You're just a bunch of homophobes.
I’ve moved on from whether it was really Leonardo da Vinci's “The Last Supper” that was “parodied” by drag artists during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. What I want to emphasize is that “The Last Supper,” like the drag act, is just an interpretation and is open to reimagining and critique.
“The Last Supper” is a fucking piece of art, which is also controversial for depicting Jesus as a white European man. If it was indeed parodied, then the drag performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics was merely an interpretation of an interpretation.
This wasn’t even the first time the mural was parodied. What really seems to be the issue here is that this time, it was a queer interpretation.
It’s not our fault as LGBTQ+ individuals if we tend to be more extra in our artistic expression, and it’s not our fault if we’re not part of — and don’t need to defend — oppressive conservative Churches that drive many LGBTQ+ people to hide in darkness and lies.
