Bianca Del Rio is full of life during ‘Dead Inside’ presser

With Reynaldo Pagsolingan Jr.

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES – For someone who proudly claims to be “dead inside,” Bianca Del Rio was anything but during the press conference for her upcoming show. The “Queen of Mean” brought her signature sharp wit to Novotel Manila Araneta City as she promoted Dead Inside, her third-ever performance in the Philippines.

Bianca last visited Manila in 2022 for her Unsanitized World Tour, following her It’s Jester Time show in 2019. Now, she’s back with a fresh dose of humor to delight her Filipino fans.

My Medium Rare for Two podcast co-host, Rey, and I were thrilled to attend the event. During the Q&A session, I had a memorable exchange with Bianca, where she “read me to filth” in classic drag queen fashion:

Me: I have two simple questions.

Bianca: Two simple questions, and you're looking at the laptop.

Me: I have 14, but I’m just going to ask two.

Bianca: It’s okay. Question one.

Me: What keeps you coming back to Manila for your tours?

Her playful jab at my reliance on notes drew laughter from the crowd. Bianca then answered sincerely: “I’ve always had a great time here in Manila.” She said she’d gladly return to the Philippines whenever her schedule permits, playfully quipping that Filipinos have already endured enough by experiencing Jiggly Caliente.

I followed up with, “What’s your secret to staying energized and inspired for every show despite being ‘dead inside’?” Bianca replied with humor and candor:

“The crazy thing about touring is there’s nothing glamorous about it. No matter what goes on as you get closer to the show, all of those things that bother you... the funny thing is, once you get on stage, everything just turns to magic. Because you sit back and think, this many people are coming to see you, and you can’t help but deliver.”
