I Tried Dunkin’s New Pistachio Chocolat So You Don’t Have To

Dunkin’ just dropped a new Pistachio Chocolate Donut, and like any curious carb-lover with a sweet tooth and an internet connection, I gave in. I ordered three via Grab Food at ₱132 apiece — yes, you read that right. That’s almost ₱400 for three donuts. For that price, I expected a little magic. Or at least moist bread.

Let’s start with the good: the filling isn’t overly sweet, which is rare for a donut these days. It’s clearly trying to go for a more “refined” flavor profile, and there are actual pistachio bits on top. Not bad. But also? Not great.

If you’re riding the pistachio chocolate hype train because of those viral knafeh bars flooding your feed, manage your expectations. This ain’t that. There’s no gooey richness, no syrupy depth — just a slightly nutty filling that feels like it wants to be taken seriously, but is stuck in a donut that doesn’t.

Which brings us to the real issue: the bread. It’s dry. Like, typical Dunkin’ dry. A flat vehicle for a so-so filling.

Now here’s where it gets ironic. I went to five different Dunkin’ stores last night, hoping to grab the pistachio donuts, only to find them sold out at each one. So, I ended up buying six J.Co donuts for under ₱300 — and I was happy with that. J.CO’s Avocado Dicaprio — also creamy, also nutty-adjacent — is only ₱50. And it tastes more premium. Softer bread, richer texture, and honestly, more flavor. At less than half the price, it makes Dunkin’s pistachio experiment feel like a tough sell.

So should you rush to try it while it’s still on the menu? Only if your curiosity’s louder than your cravings. Dunkin’ saw the pistachio trend and tried to catch the wave, but this donut barely makes a splash. It’s not a disaster, but for ₱132, “not bad” just isn’t good enough. — WALPHS.com
