A tale of two veeps
As Typhoon Carina devastates the country, former Vice President Leni Robredo is leading relief operations with her Angat Buhay program, coordinating with partners and local government units across the National Capital Region. Her proactive approach aims to address immediate needs in affected areas including Quezon City, Pasay City, Bataan, Rizal, Antipolo City, Malabon City, Novaliches, Bulacan, Marikina City, Olongapo City, and Manila City.
In sharp contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio was reported by Manila Bulletin to have departed for Germany early Wednesday morning, July 24, with her family. Her international trip, which includes a stopover in Dubai before reaching Munich, has drawn criticism for its timing amid the ongoing disaster.
“The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has yet to confirm the travel,” Manila Bulletin reported.
